Dear Gentle Readers,
I have a special treat for you today. A new art piece by our own wonderful Parker Kaufman, Texas collage artist and co-founder of Vision and Verse five years ago. Parker was the original "Vision" in our Vision and Verse team. He left to devote himself entirely to his art.
Without getting political, I think it is safe to say this is a dark time in our public education system. A strong, public education system that produces citizens who can think for themselves is the cornerstone of a strong democracy. And although other areas of our economy are doing well and moving forward in the right direction, our public education system is under siege. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue. This is not a liberal or conservative debate.
This is an American problem.
This is not a dilemma that has recently reared it's ugly head. I saw this coming while I was still teaching, and I retired over fifteen years ago. People today do not value an education the way our parents and grandparents did.
And I have no answers! I can only point out to you what I see. Okay, enough.
