Book Review: NIGHTS OF AUTUMN by D.B. Jones

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced, Sometimes Scary, Page-turner September 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Nights of Autumn by DB Jones was an excellent murder mystery with a paranormal twist. Ms. Jones created a picturesque, sleepy little town with great characters, where our heroine Autumn goes to heal after a tragic loss and concentrate on writing her book. Instead, she witnesses something that puts her life in danger. I highly recommend this fast paced, sometimes scary, page-turner and eagerly await Book 3 in the Seasons of Passion Mystery Series.

Interview with Author Kenzie Mack

Kenzie Mack
Cali Girl originally from the Midwest

Good morning, Kenzie and welcome to Vision and Verse, the Place for Art and Authors.  Tell us, what have you written?
Moon Shadows and Moon Dances

What is your favorite genre to write?
I can’t pick just one.  Romance/Suspense/Urban Fantasy

Favorite food:
Seafood

Tea or coffee?
It depends on my mood.  I enjoy both.

Pizza or ice cream?
Both are yummy, but ice-cream wins.

Where would you like to visit?     Ireland/Scotland/Europe

Favorite musical artist.  Do you listen to music when you write?  What?
I love all types of music, but would choose Alternative if I could only have one.  I have an inspiration list, but don’t listen when I’m in my hard-core writing zone.

What makes you laugh?
My family and life.  I’m an easy laugh.

Favorite work of art or sculpture.
Too many to choose.  I love visiting a museum.

How old were you when you started writing?
Grade school, I kept a diary.

Describe your perfect evening.
A tasty dinner made by my husband and all my girls gathered around to eat and catch up on their lives.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I am a firm believer in ‘The Muse’.  She visits and out comes a new story.

I also believe in 'The Muse", but she's pissed at me right now.  What do you do when you get a writer's block?
I haven’t had one yet.  I’m a perpetual editor and always have things to work on.

Who is your favorite author?
I’ll tell you who I’m currently enjoying – C.E. Murphy & Gerry Bartlett

Best book you ever read.
Love the Harry Potter series.

Last book you read.
Real Vampires Have Curves – Gerry Bartlett

What would you do for a living if you weren’t a writer?
Teach kindergarten.

I taught first grade for most of my 35 year teaching career, and after reading your book, MOON SHADOWS, I find the idea of you teaching  kindergarten a bit...scary.  If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Stephen King (what a mind)

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?     Take classes to learn the craft.  Find groups or clubs to meet with other writers.  And never quit!

THE HEALER Has Been Released!

THE HEALER, the long-awaited novel by Allison Butler has been released today!  If you are a fan of Scottish romance, history, or medieval tales, this one is for you!

THE HEALER
Release Date - October 8th, 2014

Curb your Outlander cravings with Allison Butler’s seriously sexy Scottish novel about an English woman, a Scottish Laird, a case of mistaken identity, and a love that will surpass all barriers.

Book Description:
An outcast in her own home for as long as she can remember,  Lynelle Fenwick will do anything to earn her father’s approval. Including exaggerating her healing skills, and setting off alone to rescue her step-brother from a band of raiding Scots.
Living under a curse that has haunted the Closeburn Clan for years, Laird William Kirkpatrick, will do anything  to save his sole surviving brother. He may not believe in curses, but his clan does, and the growing number of graves seems to support their side. Having banished all healers from the clan for trickery, he has no choice but to allow an Englishwoman, claiming to be a skilled healer, into his home and into the room of his wounded brother.
Enemies by birth and circumstance, they can only succeed together. But blood runs deep, and tensions high. What matters the desires of a heart?

Excerpt:
With hesitant steps the English lad’s saviour moved into the hall. Not a wisp of hair or flesh showed of the darkly clad form. William’s curiosity lifted a notch. What kind of woman dared to enter an enemy’s domain alone to rescue a boy?
She is either a fool, or foolishly brave.
The woman stopped an arm’s length from the laird’s table and William absently measured her height compared to his. The top of her head would barely reach his shoulder.
'Tell me your name and why you have come at such an ungodly hour,' Lachlan said in his best laird’s voice.
William saw the cloaked figure start. Small, pale hands emerged from the confining cloak and pushed back the hood to reveal the woman.
'I am Lynelle,' she said in a tremulous voice. 'I have come for Thomas, Lord Fenwick’s heir.'
The glowing light from the torches fell on the woman’s hair, turning it red-gold. Recognition hit William like a blow to his gut. Anger swelled inside him.
He surged forward, away from the wall. For the first time in his twenty-six years, William Kirkpatrick was furious without actually knowing why.

Author Bio:
Allison Butler is an author of Scottish historical romance. She spent her early years in country New South Wales building pretend castles with hay bales and leaping white posts with her army of two older sisters and a younger brother. Many years later, with her mother's influence, she discovered a passion for words and history, read her first historical romance and was inspired to create her own. She writes by day and cares for the elderly by night. Her love of travel has given her the gift of many amazing sights but none more heart-stirring than the rugged beauty of Scotland. Allison lives in a small town in New South Wales, Australia, with her very own Scottish hero, two beautiful daughters and a Jack Russell named Wallace. She loves travelling, dancing like no-one's watching and seeing the sights from the back of her husband's motorcycle.

New Review of BENTLEY SQUARE

Format:Kindle Edition
I was captivated with the story from the very beginning, the interactions of Becca and Richard, the fleeting connections, the daydreams that become truths, the mysterious connection between the two, all this totally had me invested from the very beginning. The characters are developed so much you truly get a great understanding of the conflicts and perspectives, a lot of the narrative reminded me of Mad-Men and I really felt that this is a perfect story for a Hollywood movie adaptation. At the end I really felt that I had read a real classic and have already recommended this to my friends, you will not be disappointed with this gripping and truly entertaining love story.
