BOOK: A Dilemma for Daisy by Carol Ann Kauffman

Daisy Mazlo faces a dilemma. She’s met the man of her dreams in Cooper MacNeill, a gentleman in every sense of the word; tall, handsome, wealthy, witty, and very interested in her.

But Daisy can’t accept his love, so she runs away, moving back to Oakville. Ohio, where she grew up to regroup and sort out her feelings.

Will the small loving community of her childhood help her find herself? Will Cooper come after her? Will a letter be pivotal in resolving Daisy’s dilemma?

Will love win out?

Dear Gentle Readers,
"Daisy" is my contribution to the series, The Monday Mystery Society. The series revolves around a small-town bookstore and a mystery book club, where readers just might find more than their next favorite author!
In each book, the members of the Monday Mystery Society discuss a mystery book.
In "Daisy", it's The Letter by Penrose Smith, a Thaddeus Gilmore Murder Mystery, where a baby whisked away from his poor, unmarried mother, and raised in a rich, luxurious mansion with little or no love. From here, things get worse for poor Granville Polmere.
I think you'll enjoy the series.
Hugs,
Carol

ENTERTAINMENT: Stumptown

Stumptown is on Wednesday evenings at 10:00 on ABC. It’s a crime drama based on the comic book series of the same name. Led by the talented Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) as a debt-ridden Marine veteran who takes care of her disabled brother, the series is set in a Portland, Oregon.

It’s a  high action, fast moving series about Dex Parios, a veteran-turn-private investigator who gets into more than her fair share of trouble. She has PTSD after being injured in Afghanistan.

She also has some gambling debts. So as a private investigator, she takes on cases the police cannot touch. She is feisty, rebellious, and has excellent combat skills. So far, the writing has been terrific. I hope they can keep it up.

RECIPE: Spinach and Mushroom Frittata

Oh, rats! I forgot the mushrooms. Well, my mother and sister were whizzes in the kitchen. Great cooks! Great bakers! I inherited NONE of those genes. My claim to fame in the kitchen is my cooking keeps my family alive and thin.

However, add one small can of mushroom pieces to the ingredients in the bowl. I have added one cup of fresh mushrooms instead, when I find really, really nice mushrooms in the produce department.

BOOK REVIEW: The Skeletons of Birkbury by Diana J. Febry

One buried body.
Many hidden secrets.
When the body of a teenage girl is discovered, the villagers of Birkbury close ranks to protect their secrets.
Gossip turns to fear and suspicion as they realise the killer is one of them and is prepared to kill again.
Beneath the good manners and polite smiles, DCI Hatherall discovers deep-seated resentments and family feuds going back decades. The stakes are raised when another girl goes missing.
Will the police uncover the killer before it is too late?

The Skeletons of Birkbury, A Peter Hatherall Mystery by Diana J Febry was an outstanding cozy mystery set in the English countryside. Detective Chief Inspector Peter Hatherall is very good at his job, but his personal life is a mess. A body is discovered hidden in the rural countryside, setting off village-wide fear and accusations. But fear not! Peter and his junior officer Fiona are on the case. Excellent  story, well told. I highly recommend.
