BOOK: Dark Return, Belterra Book Two, by Carol Ann Kauffman

Dark Return is the sequel to Belterra, Time After Time, and takes place about ten years afterwards.

When Belterra was populated long ago by a select group of humans sent here by the ancients in the hope of saving the human race, the indigenous race of bat-like creatures called the Batrach were forced into the ocean and underground sea caves by a giant force field.

Over time the force field has weakened.

The Batrach have emerged from their watery prison and they want their planet back.

Dear Gentle Readers,

Belterra is my best selling novel in the Time After Time series. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where what is left of the human race begins again, but not quite at zero. Force fields, knowledge of herbal medicine and chemical drugs, and mobile communications are part of their lives.
It is the story of Neeka, daughter of the Lord of the Warrior Tribe, and Brandon, Lord of War. Talk about how your father doesn't like your boyfriend!
But Belterra is more than the story of two lovers from opposite sides of the track who face tremendous obstacles on the path to each other. It is the story of one woman who can see the potential in her country as a united country instead of four bickering factions.

Dark Return is the sequel. Neeka and Braedon have been married for about ten years. Their world has changed, but they have returned together. However, the bat-like creatures who once ruled the land have emerged from their watery prison and want their land back.

War and negotiations. Lies and truths. Love and betrayal. It's all here.

TV TIME: Forever Young (You Tube)

This film was billed as a dark sci-fi movie.
It was not. This 2014 film from Dark Matter Studio was a romantic fantasy movie about age and regret.

Elderly lovebird couple Oscar and Robyn live in a stately home in the beautiful English countryside, reminiscing about their life of travels and her writing career. Oscar is happy. Robyn is wrestling with feelings of remorse.

The doorbell rings. Robyn answers the door. It is an old boyfriend. However, he is now 30 years old again and tells her he has discovered the cure for regret, a chemical potion that makes you young again, so you can go back and fix the stuff you messed up in your life, literally undo all your regrets.

He offers Robyn the potion.

Robyn takes the potion and gets into a bathtub with flowers and fragrances.

She emerges from the bath young and beautiful.

From that point, the story takes some unusual but touching turns. If you get a chance, watch this film.
