BOOK: Waterfalls Point by Carol Ann Kauffman

Detective Brianna Rosetti is exiled from her big city police department in Jefferson City, Missouri to a small, isolated out-of-state law enforcement unit in a pine forest near the Canadian border.

Brianna hoped it was only temporary until things cool down at home. She loved her apartment and the many activities in Jefferson City. She missed all her friends.

There had been no crime up in this pine forest community for four years, but on her first morning on the job, a body is discovered in the water.

This book also began on Amazon’s episodic reading platform, Vella.

Do you listen to music when you write?

No, I need my space to be relatively quiet. Music of many genres inspires me, though. For instance, a Chris Daugherty song called “Undefeated” inspired the name of my mystery series, The Unde(a)featedDetective Series.

What makes you laugh?

Catching people off-guard, like when I tricked my mom and a friend to get on a roller coaster that wasn't as tame as they expected

Favorite work of art or sculpture.

Monet’s Water Lilies

How old were you when you started writing?

I started toying around with it when I was nine, but I didn’t get serious about it until I was an old lady of eighteen!

Do you plan out your book with outlines and notecards? Or just write?

Nope, I’m a pantster all the way.

Describe your perfect evening.

Sitting at a baseball game in eighty degree weather with a light breeze. I'm very hard to please, as you can tell!

Where do you get your inspiration?

From people and various aspects in my life. I like to say I put my life in a blender and chop it up to create a book.

What do you do when you get a writer's block?

I usually take a break, maybe play a round of Sudoku.

Who is your favorite author?

Nicholas Sparks

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?

My mom because she has sacrificed so much for me and taught me what it really means to be a momShe and my dad have done everything to help me thrive despite my physical limitations.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?

Elvis Presley. Besides his handsome looks and talent, he seemed to be a genuine person, and I would’ve liked to have tried helping him sort through his personal battles.

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a
writer?

Don't give up; every rejection letter is one closer to an acceptance.

BOOK REVIEW: Beyond Oria Falls by Sheryl Seal

This is a story of a young woman, Oria the Golden Queen, and her quest to free her lost tribal members from a cruel and tragic fate.

Parts are written in the voices of her people, allowing us insight into their innermost thoughts and rationale behind their behavior.

Then Ms. Seal weaves each one of these character strands into a beautiful Native American tapestry of love and sacrifice, of nature and beauty.

This was a fast-paced tale of magic, shape-shifting, and time travel, told with beautiful, gentle words and wisdom. I highly recommend this book.
