BOOK: Echo of Heartbreak, A Recipe for Life by Carol Ann Kauffman

Echo of Heartbreak, A Recipe for Life is a book that came about by accident. It was originally a character profile for a woman who did not appear in my novel MacKalvey House, but nonetheless played an important role in the story.

It also was about the time I was trying to wrangle my mother's recipes out of her when she was close to the end of her long life as an excellent cook and baker, genes which I did not get.

Recipe for Life is the combination of the two: a letter from a mother to her unborn daughter and some really good recipes from an Italian cook who never wrote anything down.  I am an okay cook. My cooking keeps my husband slim. I cannot bake anything edible. I can, however, write things down.

ENTERTAINMENT: Resident Alien (Syfy Channel)

I love this Alan Tudyk guy! His character on Star Trek Discovery was one of the best in the series. And I loved him inn. Serenity. I didn't expect much from the series. but it was weirdly enjoyable.

FAVORITE CARTOON: Danger Mouse

What was your favorite cartoon?

My favorite cartoon was Danger Mouse. I can't say it was from my childhood, as I remember making a giant cardboard cut-out about four feet tall for my classroom.

Why Danger Mouse? Well, I do like a British accent! But it's more than that. It was well written. Danger Mouse was a secret agent. He had super powers. He was funny. And he had a hamster sidekick who wore glasses named Penfold. And he yelled out "Good Grief!" when upset or surprised.

BOOK REVIEW: Murder at Archly Manor by Sara Rosett

Murder at Archly Manor
by Sara Rosett

I love British Murder mysteries. And Murder at Archly Manor by
Sara Rosetta was a delightful surprise. The first in the High Society Lady Detective series,  Rosett couples a historical whodunit with a smart, independent woman in need of a career with a paycheck.
I can’t wait to start the next book.
