BOOK: Lord of Blakeley, Time After Time by Carol Ann Kauffman

The series, TIME AFTER TIME, follows a pair of quintessential lovers, Richard and Nicole, through their lives together, in different places, in different times, with different names and faces and sometimes even on other planets. This follows the alternative theory that the relationships we forge in this lifetime, both the good and the bad, are continued into the future, and are rooted deeply in our past. Whatever we do, whomever we love, and the good and evil deeds we do today follow us into the future. Unsettled issues will present themselves again and again, until they are ultimately resolved. Those people who have had a profound effect on us in this lifetime will find us again in the future. And although everything changes, love remains. Books in the TIME AFTER TIME series are: BLUE LAKE, BELTERRA, The BASLICATO, BENTLEY SQUARE, WAITING FOR RICHARD, LORD OF BLAKELEY, MACKALVEY HOUSE, and WAIT FOR ME.  They do not need to be read in order.

Lord of Blakeley is the story of Andrew of Blakeley, a simple farm boy who lives on a primitive future planet. He is chosen by the lovely Lady Aleese to be her mate and rises to become the most powerful man on the planet. But a jealous man with access to mobile transport devices wreaks havoc on the young couple’s happiness, separating them, her on an alien rock planet and he, aboard a slave ship, and then dumping them in present-day Chicago. One day Aleese vanishes into thin air and Andrew is arrested for her murder and must stand trial. It is a story of devotion and jealousy, of loss and lunacy. And, in true Time After Time fashion, a story of love.

TV TIME: Bargain (Paramount+)

We were at a loss as to what to touch. Someone said this was interesting. So, we watched.

This is a dark, dark Korean melodramatic series about a pretty young woman who enticed men to a remote hotel on the premise of sex with a virgin.

Instead, they are used as merchandise in a very lucrative organ trafficking ring, where their organs are auctioned off while they are still alive.

And while all this is going on, a giant earthquake destroys the hotel and a few survivors tumble into the underground tunnels. They must fight to escape the tunnels.

It is weird and they are all crazy.

This won awards at the Cannes Film Festival. Here is the cast all dressed up and pretty.

INTERVIEW: Sci Fi Author J. A. Duxbury

J.A. Duxbury
USA

Good Morning, J. A., and welcome to Vision and Verse.
What have you written?
I have written Dark Dimensions and Heart of Deception.
Legacy of Risks is being released on 22 Feb.

What is your favorite genre to write?

I like to write in Sci Fi, but I also write from my dreams.

Pizza or ice cream?

Ice Cream.

Wine or beer or soda or what?

Tea and soda.

Where would you like to visit?

can't make up my mind.

There are so many places I'd love

to see.

Favorite musical artist.

Oooh, hard one. So many, Queen,

Hazel O'Connor, Katie Perry,

David Bowie and so many more.

Do you listen to music when you write?

What?

Depends on what I'm writing. I have a fight playlist, a

flight playlist and if it's an epic battle, then

I'll listen to 1812 Overture

What makes you laugh?

A lot of different things. Cats, dogs, myself.

Favorite work of art or sculpture.

Van Gogh's in there along with The Thinker by Rodin

How old were you when you started writing?

Wow! I think I was about 10

Do you plan out your book with outlines and notecards?

Or just write?

I do a bit of both, however, I've just done the first draft of

35 000 words all just writing as it came

with no planning or anything.

Describe your perfect evening.

Writing

Where do you get your

inspiration?

All sorts of places. Mainly my

dreams

What do you do when you get a

writer's block?

I watch my favourite shows.

Who is your favorite author?

Again, so many. Andre Norton, Anne McCaffrey,

Kelly Blanchard-Dale, Julian May.

Best book you ever read.

Actually, it's a series - Julian May's Saga of the Exiles and

the Millenium Trilogy

Last book you read.

Again, a series - Tails of the Dragon by Craig Halloran

What would you do for a living if you weren’t a writer?

Probably be sitting in a call centre.

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal

life the most and why?

My mother. She had an open mind on virtually every

subject.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with one
person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be
and why?

Michael De Notre Dame - just to

find out what order his work was

supposed to be in!

What advice would you give

someone who aspired to be a

writer?

Do it. Don't listen to those who say '

get a real job, writing will never

pay your way'. In the latter

half of my life, my niece died from

our family illness and it suddenly

dawned on me - what if

writing did pay my way? So, go, do it.

Write until you can't write and then write some more. Don't

listen to negativity but always listen to constructive

feedback. Dissect all feedback to look for its

gems.

BOOK REVIEW: The Donnybrook Affair by Robert E. Kearns

The Donnybrook Affair by Robert E. Learns was fantastic. It was really hard to put down. It is the story of a down-on-his-luck private detective named Lemuel Plant. Mr. Plant may not have many clients, but he has things like morals, scruples, and and an irate intelligence.

A gorgeous woman hires him to prove her older, wealthy husband is cheating in her. Lemuel follows the trail and gets far more than he bargained for.

Do not miss this one!
