Amber Daulton's Lightning Over Bennett Ranch

Amber Daulton

Lightning over Bennett Ranch

Publisher: Books to Go Now
Release Date: June 9th, 2014
ASIN: B00KWEFP9K
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 16k
Sexual Rating: Sweet

Synopsis:

Melody Bennett’s parents trampled on her teenage romance with a drifter ten years ago. He disappeared without a word of goodbyes on the night they had planned to run away together. Since then, she cast aside her foolish notions of happily ever after and worked hard alongside the hired help to care for the majestic horses on her family’s beloved ranch. She refused to give love another chance and resigned to live her life alone.
Max Fortaine returned with a heart guarded by secrets and a sizable bank account that took blood, prayers and tears to fund. The cowboy disrupted Melody’s peaceful existence with stolen kisses and a promise for more. After a lifetime of running, mistakes and regrets, he vowed to reclaim the only woman he ever loved… if only her overprotective father didn’t stand in his way.

Excerpt:

“Did you ever love me? At least tell me the truth on that.”
Surprise overshadowed the anger that burned in his eyes. “Yes, I did. I’m sorry I made you doubt that.”
Her tight control slipped and a tear slid down her face. Melody dug her nails into her palms to regain control. “You owe me the truth.”
Max tunneled his fingers through his spiky, dark blond hair. “I do, but I don’t want you to hate me more than you already do.”
“I don’t hate you. I did a long time ago but I forgave you.” She stepped back to give both of them breathing room. As it was, all she could breathe in was his scent. She felt suffocated and strangely at peace by it. “I’m happy, Max. My life is good. I missed you for a while but I moved on. To answer your earlier question, no, I don’t have a boyfriend. I’ve dated men after you, of course, but I’m single now. That’s my choice.” She refused to tell him about her list of must-haves, her criterion for potential love interests. Melody didn’t want him to know how much his betrayal had affected her view on men and love. “Besides, I’m sure you moved on to other women. I doubt a handsome man like you would have trouble finding a new bedmate.”
He glanced away and shifted his feet which confirmed her suspicion. She wrapped her arms around her queasy stomach and walked toward a window. She peered through the slats of the blinds but she didn’t see much of anything. “Do you have any idea what it’s like to feel not good enough? Tell me why you left Willow Creek without me. I don’t care what the answer is. I just want to know. I won’t hate you for it.”

About the Author:

Writing is the fruit to happiness.
Amber Daulton lives her life by that one belief even though she normally isn't so Zen.
Author of four novellas—Forever Winter, A Hero's HeartLightning over Bennett Ranch and Mistletoe in the City—she published her first book in 2012 and hopes to publish countless more in the future.
She lives in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina with her punk-rocker husband and their five crazy kitties. Writing takes up most of her time, aside from her day job in the retail industry. As a fan of contemporary, paranormal and historical novels alike, she can't get enough of feisty heroines and alpha heroes. Her mind is a wonderland of romance and adventure, laughter and awesome ways of kicking a guy when he's down. She probably wouldn't be too sane without her computer and notebooks. After all, what's a girl to do when there are people jabbering away in her head and it's hard to shut them up? Write! Nothing else works.

THE BASLICATO Reviews

Showing 1-6 of 6 reviews : 4.8 average star rating

on December 29, 2014
Format: Kindle Edition
The Baslicato follows the love story of two lovers through different life times. The story line is full of intrigue, jealousy, treason, and passion. It will make you curious to keep reading to the end to find out what else is going to happen in this fast paced adventure, although there were times when the plot got a little confusing with the insertion of too many characters who had different roles yet to happen in the future of the two main characters. Overall, a pleasant and surprising love story.

Oh my word!

Oh my word! Now I have more questions than when I began the book! But a great read which left asking when/where is the next installment. If it is the one I thought, I find out shortly cause I purchased it before writing this review. In any event I doubt I will be disappointed. This was such a great read the one I just got has to be as well.

This author wrote a story that kept me intrigued and biting my nails all the way through! The characters are so vivid and likable! Recommended to anyone. It really is a captivating book with treachery at its core! A romance to last for all time. What a strange combination but it ooooh it works so well!

This book was great! It had a little bit of everything in it! Italy, Racing Cars, good looking guys! It's a page turner for sure, and I think it's my favorite so far in the Time after Time series! These books are so good they always keep me coming back to read the next story! I love the theme of the reincarnated lovers throughout all the books, and the ability to read them out of order and not miss a thing! Check this book out, you won't regret it! It's a great read for the summer!

Favorite musical artist.  Do you listen to music when you write?  What?
I like the oldies: Frank Sinatra, Engelbert Humperdinck, Elvis Presley, Paul Anka, Beatles. I also like U2 and Michael Jackson. Yes, I listen to music when I write. These days it’s the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. Don’t ask me why J

What makes you laugh?
More like who makes me laugh. P.G. Wodehouse

How old were you when you started writing?
10

Describe your perfect evening:
Nobody around. Music. A good book. A bag of potato chips J

Where do you get your inspiration?
From the books I read and dreams.

What do you do when you get a writer's block?
My mentor Nicholas Boving says there is no such thing as a writer’s block. So now I don’t believe in the concept J

believe that, Samna.  I think  we've grown accustom to called a fear/exhaustion syndrome 'writer's block. Who is your favorite author?
P.G. Wodehouse

Best book you ever read:
There are too many but if I really have to choose it would be Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Something in Marketing and New Product Development.

My parents. I am what I am today because of their love, encouragement and upbringing. They always motivated me to read, write and have an independent soul. I am eternally grateful to them.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Henry Tudor VIII. He fascinates me. I want to ask him how he changed from an intelligent, athletic, energetic and handsome man to someone so cruel, mean, nasty and ugly.

I also find him fascination, and scary at the same time. What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
Don’t let anyone discourage you. Be open to criticism and use it to improve your skill but never give up on writing just because people don’t like your work. You can never please everyone and you shouldn’t even bother trying.

Protest of Love (Book 5 of the Monday Mystery Society)

Book Blurb:

Mary Gardner is a workaholic with a passion for books. She is working on the biggest deal of her career. She is excited and happy but in walks Stefan Larsson. He is all fired up to stop it from going through and has put everything at risk. Will Mary be able to stop him from destroying everything that matters to her? And if she does, what will she lose in the process?

Book Excerpt:

“Found what you’re looking for?” Mary looked up with a start. Stefan stood there; cross legged, casually leaning against the wall.

“So the real-estate industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Is there anyone you like?” she asked bitterly.

He slowly walked toward her, his eyes locked on hers.

“I like you,” he said as he came around and took the paper from her hand.

“If this is what you do to people you like, I feel sorry for those you don’t.” The office space suddenly seemed smaller to her. Nobody knew she was here. She didn’t think Stefan would hurt her, but she had been snooping around. He had every right to be angry. She wondered what he planned to do.

“I’m impressed. You don’t seem like the breaking and entering type.” Mary was not short, but Stefan towered over her. Her pulse started to race. She took a step back but stumbled on the chair. Stefan grabbed her by the waist to prevent her from losing her balance.

“You seem kind of distracted Mary,” Stefan said as his eyes roamed over her face and rested on her lips.

Mary flushed. She realized his arms were still around her.

“Keep your hands off me, Mr. Larsson,” she said.

“You know, all this Sir and Mr. Larsson …it’s really not doing it for me.” Stefan flashed his gorgeous smile with that tilt of his head.

“Maybe because I have no desire to do it for you Mr. Larsson.” Mary glared at him and walked out of his office.
