One Magic Yule was a wonderful little holiday gem of a story. Taylor is an author who prefers to live in an isolated Kentucky cabin. She is also a witch who dabbles in herbs and kinetic energy, talks to animals, and understands their responses. 

A mysterious stranger moves into the abandoned farmhouse across the field. What happens next is nothing short of magic. Teresa Keefer has a talent for weaving great characters and great locations together into a lovely holiday tale. I highly recommend.

A  Mystery Before Christmas, An Italian Village Mystery, by Adriana Licio was a nice change of pace from my usual read. 

The story is set in a small village in Italy, a young widow and her child are passing through and stop for a few days because the little girl gets a fever. 

The pace is gentle. The Italian customs at Christmas remind me of my grandparents long, long ago. The situations are definitely Italian-flavored! 

This mystery does not throw dead bodies on the floor at Christmastime. It is more of an identity mystery and plays out to a satisfying conclusion.

This anthology of "Twilight Zone" type tales, written in Charles Dickens fashion will keep you guessing until the very satisfying endings. Contemporary, solid, warm characters, concise writing with riveting storylines and situations, each has a message that will touch your heart. JR Wirth does not disappoint. I highly recommend this anthology to anyone who loves a collection of unusual tales told by an excellent storyteller.

My Most Memorable Christmas Activity

My most memorable Christmas activity began when my daughter turned three years old and I took her to the Nutcracker. My little ballerina wanted to see 'real ballerinas' - her exact words. I remember asking her after the show if it had been everything magical she'd expected. She said 'yes but they didn't talk'. For Christmas that year I got her a VHS of Barbie Nutcracker. She still has it fourteen years later! 



And yes, for the past fourteen years we have seen the ballet every Christmas season. A treasured tradition we continue!

My Christmas Romance this year is called The Christmas Wreath. A sweet love story enjoyable for all ages. Love may hide but it's never lost.The magic of Christmas unites two hearts together forever.
