Blog Tour: Midnight Owl by Viv Drewa

Blog Tour: Midnight Owl by Viv Drewa
Midnight Owl (Joe Leverette Mystery Boook #1)

When the dismembered body of a young woman is found Detectives Joe Leverette and Philip Marsden are assigned the case. After investigating the Port Huron, Michigan area where the six body parts were found there’s a twist in the case: The murderer goes after each individual who found the parts, one by one.

Leverette becomes interested in one of the women, Carole Sage, a sensitive, but because of the case he’s not able to take it any further. Everyone on the police force sees his infatuation, but Carole does not.

Each of the six witnesses has a dream about the murderer removing the particular body part they found the night. They are startled awake and hear an owl hoot three times. None of them want to reveal their dream to the detectives.

Carole sees the actual murder and each murder as it happens to the witnesses. The police chief, Billingsley, understands her ‘gift’ and sets up a sting to catch him. It fails and they have to regroup to think of something else. Two witnesses are dead and they don’t want a third to die.

This books is for 18+ due to the violence.

Author Bio:

The Arts   are very strong on both sides of my family. My father’s side were the singers. All have such beautiful voices and from what I’ve been told has been strong all the up the family tree. Dad wanted to be an opera singer but after getting married, drafted to the army during the Korean Conflict, coming home and become a father to my late brother and me dashed his hopes. He did have the most beautiful baritone I ever heard. I can sing but I’m a tenor and always felt awkward that I had to stand with the men on the church choir. My daughter, Sofia, has a beautiful soprano voice.
Mom’s side were all storytellers. My first inkling was my grandmother who would make up stories to tell us when were little. She didn’t like the stories in the books so she told her own. My mom was also an excellent storyteller and poet. She won several contests for her poetry. I tried poetry but found I preferred writing stories. My daughter is also very good at this but she doesn’t want to write. She’d make a fantastic horror author, too! Maybe one day????

I knew, at age 9, I wanted to be a writer after reading James Robert Green’s “A Whistling Sword”. I was so fascinated by his storytelling and how he used an actual historical character, Genghis Khan, in this book. Everything I read previously were Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys so this was a real treat.

I was never able to start writing because I had no support and felt discourage even though I won awards for my work. It wasn’t until I had two mini-strokes in 2013 that I started. My doctor wanted me to play puzzle games and such so I asked him if writing would work. He said yes and “The Angler and the Owl” came to be.

Since then I’ve written “The Owl of the Sipan Lord”, a short story “From the Pages of Grandfather’s Life” which I’m planning on turning into a novella, and have just finished “Midnight Owl” (A Joe Leverette Mystery Book 1) which will be out Oct 10. This was originally going to be a trilogy but as I wrote more ideas came to me so it’ll be a series. How many books I don’t know, I’m sure I’ll think of more things to keep it going.

I took creative and journalism courses to help transition to fulfill my dream of becoming a writer. I worked as an intern for Port Huron's 'The Times Herald", and also wrote, edited and did the layout for the Blue Water Multiple Sclerosis newsletter "Thumb Prints."

I also write a blog promoting my fellow authors.

Oh I almost forgot! I love owls!!!

Clare swore she'd never go back, but after having a dream about the dig that didn't add up to the finds of the area, and the help of the Peruvian Pygmy Owl and a blue-eyed spirit, she did.

FREE Today! A Dilemma for Daisy by Carol Ann Kauffman

Dear Gentle Readers,

A Dilemma for Daisy is short story in the Monday Mystery Society series. Set in the small but wonderful Ohio town of Oakville, created by the talented Alison Jean Ash, all the stories center on a mystery book selection in the town's Monday night book club.

In my story, Daisy Mazlo returns to the town of her birth following the death of her parents. She's also running from a man.   Was he violent? Or abusive? No, but Carter had a way of willing her to do whatever he wanted without speaking a word.

It was such fun to write with the other Monday Mystery Society authors, adding everybody's characters to our particular book club scenes. In Oakville, love is always just around the corner.

A Dilemma for Daisy is available in kindle, paper book, and audiobook format. The kindle format is free today at

Have a great day!

Interview with Poet Rosemary Fonseca

Rosemary Fonseca
Limerick , Ireland

Good morning, Rosemary, and welcome to Vision and Verse, the place for Art and Authors. What have you written?
I write inspirational and spiritual poetry.   I have written and
published two books -  “A collection of Inspirations” Vol.1,
Vol. 2.  I write and compose quotes, and receive messages
which I write up on occasion on my blog.

What is your favorite genre to write?
Inspirational and Spiritual Poetry.

Favorite food?
It would have to be a Chinese Takeaway with prawns, ginger and
spring onions.

Tea or coffee?
Oh , I love My tea .  I would drink it all day if I had the chance.  I
drink coffee once a day and that is in the morning.

Pizza or Ice cream:
Both if I could .   I was married to an Italian so I love pizza.  The ice cream that I adore is Mint.

I am Italian, also, and the one thing we do is leave our exes with a love of round, spicy things. Wine or Beer:
It would be white wine – J.B.Chanet – Sauvignon Blanc.  Or a rose
wine.

Where would you like to visit?
The country that I live in now (Ireland).  I was born in
Nairobi/Kenya, but lived in South Africa.  The country that I live in now is very breathtaking and has many beautiful historical sites.  I have been here for 13 years and have not seen it all .   They say home is where the heart is .  Another place would be Wales.

Favorite Musical Artist:
I have a few ,which would include Pavarotti or Mario Lanza,  but at the moment I would say Enya – very spiritual Music.

Do you listen to music when your write?
That depends on my mood of the day. I don't usually.  The beauty of nature inspires my writing.  Music would interrupt my thought process.

When you do listen, what?
Enya, Operattic, Enigma , anything that would instill peace around me.

What makes you laugh?
Life or nature around me.  I'm a people watcher and have a mad sense of humor

Favorite Art or Sculpture:
Michael Angelo, or the statue of “David” or anything from the old masters I.e the sistine chapel.

Rosemary, you must go to Italy! The Sistine Chapel is amazing. And "David", beyond incredible. I didn't want to leave him! Back to work here, how old were you when you started writing?
I was 48 years old (2013).   I started  writing when I visited a
property belonging to a Druid couple (pagans) in Castlepooke,
Cork, Ireland.  Its a very spiritual place and had a Spiritual
Awakening. This is where I penned the poem “A Journey
Entered”.  I continue to write in this form, and got published in
2015.

Describe a perfect evening.
I am a home body.  So I would say I would spend it at home with my husband and daughter .  If I did have one I would be watching a movie in front of a roaring fire and sipping a glass of white wine, and the cats, all four of them, lying close by.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration from the nature around us.  I could be anywhere, and I would get a poem.  would have to write it down there and then , otherwise it is lost.   I have been known to carry a
notebook with me where ever I go.

What do you do when you get a writers block?
don't necessarily get a writers block.  I don't deliberately sit down
to write a poem.  I write when I receive them so I could get nothing for a few days, or get a few in 1 day.

Who is your favorite Author?
I dont really have a favorite author at all.

Best book you ever read.
Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela

Last book you read.
You would be very amused to hear I have read 50 shades of
Grey, but found it very amusing as it only touches lightly on that
lifestyle.  Not a true reflection of the lifestyle.

What would do for a living if you weren't a writer?
At the moment I am a stay at home mom, and I write part time.
I used to work in retail , so am unemployed at the the moment.

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?
At the moment it is currently my husband -  he is my muse, but saying that a lot of people have inspired me.  Its the person that I would meet at any one specific moment.  I moved from one country to another - South Africa to Ireland.  So people who I've come into contact usually inspires me.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with one person dead or alive, real or fictional, who would it be and why.
It would be Nelson Mandela (South Africa)  .  He was very much
admired, and I even wrote a poem of him when he passed away.  He had a special Aura around him, and the other person I would love to had a conversation with is .. My dad who died when I was 8 years old .  I don't remember him unfortunately.

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
I would say : - Go out and do it, but ... Do what makes you happy.
