Some Walks Need To Be Taken Alone

Some walks need to be taken alone.  The introspective, calming strides down the street or along the beach need to be a solitary endeavor.  You can't hear the yourself think when you're talking to somebody else.  You can't listen to what your body is telling you, like you need more rest, you need to calm down, or you need food.
Most of the time we get ourselves all upset over events that never come to pass. And other times, something comes out of the blue and collides with our peaceful existence, causing us a great deal of aggravation.  Walking alone will help you put it in perspective and let it go.

Interview with Author Scott Allen Taylor

Scott Allen Taylor
Petaluma, CA

Good morning, Scott and welcome to Vision and Verse, the Place for Art and Authors. We're happy to have you here with us. What have you written?
My writing has followed me through the high points of life, as it should. First, it was articles about hunting and fishing and the outdoors, then unavoidably, my beliefs. My first book, The Mystery of God, was quite a flop. The publisher no sooner took me on and went to print, and then went belly up (I hope it wasn’t me). It was just as well, however, I now look back at the manuscript as the incoherent ranting of a spirit-crazed individual lacking in communication skills.

Since then, I have restarted the book many times, and eventually hit the mark, with: Walking Like Einstein, the story of my own fascinating religious experience and discovery of an error in the early Christian church, combined with Einstein’s findings about the true nature of Time.

What is your favorite genre to write?
Non-fiction

Favorite food.
Yes. Mexican food is a favorite, and baked goods, definitely baked goods.

Tea or coffee?
Coffee, with cream.

Pizza or ice cream?
Yes. I used to say that ice cream was like manna from heaven. But pizza…I really do like pizza too.

Where would you like to visit?
I like quaint little towns and villages, the backwoods, and old Europe.

Favorite musical artist.
The Moody Blues.

Do you listen to music when you write?
Never.

What?
Solitude for me. I’m going places when I write, and music is its own place, for another time.

What makes you laugh?
I as much as prefer to look at most things through a humorous lens. So, life, I guess.

Favorite work of art.
I fell in love with the works of artist, Jeanette Le Grue…literally, I married her.

That is so romantic!  I love it. How old were you when you started writing?
My late 20s.

Describe your perfect evening.
Evenings are best when the day has been full, fulfilling, as a finishing touch. Nothing big, really, just good food and good company.

Where do you get your inspiration?
Inspiration is to writing, like magma is to a volcano. I erupt, and the flow is its own force.

What do you do when you get a writer's block?
I stop. I am an archer, and in archery you only keep practicing when you are on the mark.

Who is your favorite author?
Ah, that is an unfair question, for a spiritual writer. But truthfully, I admire any author who addresses the subject on multiple levels. The apostle Paul was the best. Patterning after the biblical parables, his writings spoke to the past, the present things seen of this world, as well as the unseen. Most of scripture is that way. If you are not careful, you can read the vanilla and miss the chocolate and strawberry entirely. Most do.

Best book you ever read.
The Bible.

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?
My father. He portrayed the greatest things of life, every day, without boasting.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Hmmmm…I was going to pick number two (rather than the “one” person I might like to talk to. And then, there are many: Adam, Jacob, David, and Lincoln. I’ll have to get back to you.

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
Get alone. Also, many advise to write for yourself. But while I agree, I believe that is just the beginning. State your message as if on trial for your life. Do yourself justice, but also win your case for public record.

Do you have any links for us to follow you?

A New Review for BENTLEY SQUARE

5.0 out of 5 stars
Interesting, realistic, and touching May 8, 2013
By C. R.

I think this was a great choice of book. It has real romance, not erotic romance novel type, and mystery and intrigue. It was well written and enjoyable. I passed time easily enjoying this book, and appreciating the fresh voice of an author who isn't drawn to sex filled romance, and overly hyped hunky heroes. This book has the elements of a good story, and something that sticks with you even after you close the book! Great choice! :)

Good morning, L.T. and welcome to Vision and Verse, the Place for Art and Authors.  We ar thrilled to love you with us this morning.  Falling Into You looks fabulous.  What is your favorite genre to write?
I've really enjoyed writing about vampires and werewolves. My love for anything but them meant they had to feature in my first novels. Now I've done that I'm side stepping into contemporary adult romance.

Favorite food?
Steak, I love steak. I like it rare, bordering on blue.

Tea or coffee?
Coffee, although I get told I should be drinking tea because I'm British! It's funny the idea's we have about how a certain nationality should behave isn't it.

Pizza or ice cream?
Ice cream, only because carbs wreak havoc on me.

Where would you like to visit?
Anywhere in the USA. I have so many friends there. I'd love to go visit some of them.

Favorite musical artist and do you listen to music when you write?
I have to listen to music while I write. In 'Falling into You' each chapter is based on a song. I listen to such varying music I couldn't possibly list them all.

What makes you laugh?
Anything ironic. I have a dry and warped sense of humour.

Favorite work of art.
Erm, my book covers?

How old were you when you started writing?
Around eleven years old.

Describe your perfect evening.
Wine, silence and a Macbook.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration from everything I hear, see and touch. As a writer you need to draw on every experience you've ever had. With these books I drew on what I love, vampires. Having said that, a lot of reviewers commented that the first book was really about a girl who just happened to be a vampire. I loved that because I felt the same when I wrote it. It isn't a story reliant on the supernatural aspect.

What do you do when you get writer's clock?
Honestly, I fire up youtube and watch Dirty Dancing's clip of 'Cry to Me'. God I love that scene. It never gets old to me.

Who is your favorite author?
I don't really have one in particular, although I adore Mills and Boon novels.

Best book you ever read.
I can't go on ever, I've read too many great books. The best book I've read this year is 'Hyde' by Lauren Stewart. The entire series is amazing!

Who is the one peson who have influences tour personal life the most and why?
My Granddad who sadly passed away when I was fifteen. He had a band and was a very creative and talented man. He would be so proud that I found my own creative level and did something with it. I miss him so much.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living to dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Rik Bertrand has written many poems about my novels, two have been published in the back of them. He is prolific and an inspiration. I would love to be able to meet him face-to-face. The internet is all well and good but it just isn't the same as a real hug.

What advice would you give an aspiring author?
Keep trying until it's right. Don't be scared. Hire and editor and a cover designer. Don't do anything until you've done all of the above.

About the author:

L.T. Kelly lives in Lincolnshire with her husband, two children, and an insane Cockapoo puppy named Mylo.
She is a lover of all things vampire, and is also a hopeless romantic.
L.T. Kelly had a successful twelve-year military career in the Royal Air Force. She now divides her time between being an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for the ambulance service, being a mother and awife, as well as writing. It’s the writing that keeps her sane…
