Silent Secrets, Cry Murder by DB Jones

Dear Gentle Readers,
DB Jones is one of my favorite authors since I first read Summer Heat, Volume One in the Seasons of Passions Mystery series, as well as the rest of the series. DB knows how to weave a tightly-knit mystery that keeps this reader on the edge of her seat.
Now DB has a new one out, Silent Secrets, Cry Murder. If this one is anything like the rest, it is not to be missed!
Hugs,
Carol

Madison Hart struggles to regain her life after her near death encounter at the hands of the man who vowed to get his revenge for the death of his brother.
What she believes to be a case of arson soon develops into a complicated case of murder, money, and greed. Believing she is well enough to return to her job as an investigator, she accepts the challenge of this case. Along with her partner, Josh Logan they discover there is much more to this crime. The body counts grow as this well-organized killer spans from county to county leading Madison and Josh on a path of a murderer who will stop at nothing to find what he’s looking for. Little does he understand the complex workings of the mind of Madison Hart, a trained FBI Criminal Profiler who will reveal his secrets and will not rest in her pursuit to stop him and uncover the silent secrets that cry murder.
As Madison and her team gather evidence and follow the leads, the pieces of the puzzle begin to form a crime that will take them into the dark underworld of corruption and murder…

Good morning, Cathy, and welcome to Vision and Verse, the place for Art and Authors. Thank you for taking the time to be with us .What have you written?
In addition to journalistic articles, I have written
PHOTO EXPLORATIONS: A Girl's Guide to Self-Discovery  through Photography, Writing and Drawing, a workbook for girls to better understand themselves, strive for a balanced life and set meaningful goals for the future. Readers use past photos and new images created through picture-taking and drawing to promote self-awareness and self-esteem.  Although designed for individual girls, many of the activities may be done in groups, so this is a wonderful tool for teachers, school counselors and youth leaders who want to help girls thrive. Although the exercises in the workbook are meaningful and empowering for all, the book is recommended for girls and adolescents ages 9 through 15. (Younger girls may choose to work with a parent, which provides a creative opportunity for connection.)

Best book you ever read.

What would you do for a living if you weren’t a writer?
I actually make my living as a psychotherapist, professional photographer and educator.  My workbook is used as a tool to empower girls.

My journalistic writing has been about topics related to my interests such as body image, photography and resilience.

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?
I have been fortunate to have many female teachers and mentors throughout my life who have taught me skills but more importantly cheered me on and help build my confidence, which comes in handy in all of my work.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Oprah...I think we would have a lot to discuss on topics we are both passionate about such as empowering girls and women, self-image and resilience.

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
Give yourself permission to write...a journal, poetry, essays, fiction without worrying how good may be. Set your critic aside and write what interests you, and worry about your audience later.

Christmas at Star Lake by Carol Ann Kauffman

Madison Rand runs Rand Solutions, an unusual and very helpful agency in the beautiful town of Silver Maple, New York. The police inform her that her highly qualified, specialized employees are targeted by a professional killer and being picked off, one by one. To save their lives, she closes down her business, sends them all away, and retreats to a friend’s cabin at Star Lake to figure out who is after them and why.

Danger follows her to the cabin in the woods at Star Lake, where an old ghost from her past reappears on Christmas Eve, hellbent on revenge, and the madman tracks her through the underground caves at the lake.

Shots are fired. A body drops to the ground. Is it Kyle Miller, the love of her life, who followed her to the cabin to propose on Christmas Eve?

The air is thick with treachery and deceit. The body count is rising and old friendships are put to the test. But Madison Rand believes in miracles, especially at Christmas time.

Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I finished it in one reading, including during and annoying phone call. All I can say is don’t look away, and if you miss something go back. Author Carol Kauffman had me at the first murder. Yes, a Christmas book with a murder (or a few). “Christmas at Star Lake,” is a fast paced, page turner that will grip you and then slap you, all the while whisper merry Christmas. If you like fast paced thrillers this is for you. Hats off to Carol…
