Interview with Author Anne Elizabeth

    Anne Elizabeth
San Diego, CA
(though I am originally from Connecticut)

Good morning, Anne.  We're just thrilled to have you with us this morning! You are a big celebrity with all our Big Bang Fans.  What have you written?
I write military romance for adults and paranormal comics/graphic novels for teens. My husband is retired from the Teams and we are active in the Navy SEAL community. With the comics, you might have seen some of my covers on the following episodes of BIG BANG THEORY—Holographic Excitation (Season 6), The Bakersfield Expedition (Season 6), and most recently The Occupation Recalibration (Season 7) or visited my booth at Comic-Com International.

What is your favorite genre to write?
I love writing it all!  But, I have a special love of the comic form.

Tea or coffee?
Pepsi J

Pizza or ice cream?
Both!

Favorite musical artist.  Do you listen to music when you write?  What?
I listen to all types of music from classical to pop. Someday I’d like to meet award-winning ballad singer Adele and pop icon Billy Joel. Both of them embody such storytelling acumen in their songs…that they transport me.

What makes you laugh?
Stand-up comedians. My favorite entertainer is Jeff Dunham.

How old were you when you started writing?
Very young… I’ve always written stories. How else was I supposed to entertain my stuffed animals.

Describe your perfect evening.
Watching the sunset with my husband.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I am inspired by husband and our friends.

What do you do when you get a writer's block?
What's writer's block?

Who is your favorite author?
That’s a very large list. Among my favorites are Anne Rice, Stan Lee, Cathy Maxwell, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ernest Hemingway, and George RR Martin.

Best book you ever read.
Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?
My grandfather who was a missionary in Japan before WWII. He preached that it was more important to praise the best in a person, rather than torture them for their faults. “None of us are without wrongs,” he’d say, “Every day has a newness, worth beginning anew and living for the best.”

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Abraham Lincoln. I enjoy reading biographies, and learning ‘why’ a person made this or that decision. Lincoln had a wisdom way beyond his years, especially in terms of philosophy, and I’d love to learn more. That would be one truly amazing experience!

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
Surround yourself with believers! Never give up on the power of your dream. And feed that excitement by celebrating all that come into your path.
