BOOK: Book Review, A Nest of Vipers by Andrea Camilleri

Montalbano Books: A Nest of Vipers by Andrea Camilleri

I first fell in love with the charming Sicilian Chief Inspector Salvo Montalbano one day while flipping through the copious amount of cable channels with nothing interesting to watch on them. And there he was! On MHZ, the Italian channel. Salvo. Andrea Camilleri has crafted an Italian police chief who is suave and bald and smart and, oh, so Italian.
Plus, the police cases are intricate mysteries that somehow manage to showcase the gorgeous Sicilian countryside and coastline, as well as a troupe of lovable, quirky characters that are easy to love and hard to forget. If your Italian isn't fluent enough to watch the TV series, then may I suggest the books. I've read a few of them. All outstanding reads. Salvo. Mimi. Livia. Catarelli. Fazio!
