ART: The Beauty of Goldfish

 I love goldfish. I have them in the pond. They are beautiful creatures. And smart! I go out there and shake the fish food container. I yell “Oh, Fishies!” and they all come swimming toward me.

Goldfish get there color from the fish food. Many of our older goldfish are white. It is not their color that makes them beautiful.

This Korean Science Fiction Action Adventure starts out as two separate stories: a young woman leaves her home with only a suitcase on a dangerous mission to save the Earth and a genius engineer in the midst of making some far-reaching inventions that could negatively change the Earth forever. 

The real action kicks in when they get together!

BOOK REVIEW: Natural Selection by Elin Hilderbrand

This short story written by New York Times Bestselling Author Elin Hilderbrand was on the Amazon list of great reads for August so I picked it up. I am used to Hilderbrand’s fantastic summer beach reads. 

This was not one of them. 

I know a short story does not allow time for great character development, and I accept that. But this seemed rushed. Written in the present tense, it covered large blocks of time  in few sentences. 

Here is the gist: young, naive woman and her boyfriend plan a trip to the Galapagos. Boyfriend packs his camera and has a list of wildlife photos he wants to shoot. At the airport, he is called home on a family emergency. But he insists she go on the trip alone.  

 Not one of my favorite Hilderbrand’s, but still worth reading the main character’s journey.

TV TIME: Wild Wild Punjab (Netflix)

 A man discovers his fiancé in the throes of passion with another man. He confronts her. She breaks up with him. He is devastated. His friends take him on a wild trip to Punjab to get over his heartbreak. 

This is a comedy, an Indian comedy. Expect slapstick comedy, lavish costumes, and upbeat music. It was a pleasant diversion.

BOOK REVIEW: A Bead in Hand by Janice Peacock

 

A Bead in Hand by Janice Peacock was a thoroughly enjoyable cozy mystery about a bead artist named Jax and her adventures at a bead show and sale where a murder takes place right next to her. Did I mention Jax thinks of herself as an amateur detective?  Great read!
