YMRA's 2015 Model Train Open House

Dear Gentle Readers,

Yesterday we went to the Youngstown Model Railway Association's 2015 Annual Model Train Open House in Austintown, OH, and it was fantastic!

If you have little ones, or if you just love trains like I do (and don't call me Sheldon), don't miss this show.

Step into the building at the corner of Raccoon Rd. and Four Mile Run in Austintown and let yourself be transported back in time, to an era when this part of northeast Ohio was booming, when cars were absolutely beautiful and they didn't all look alike, when the area mills were up and running full-tilt, when our residents had decent paying jobs and we were all downtown shopping!

The hours of hard work and dedication to keeping the memory of our rich railroad history alive and chugging down the track is one of the goals of the Youngstown Model Railroad Association.

This annual show also runs Nov. 14 and 15 and Dec. 5 and 6, from noon until 6:00 and is the best train show in the area with two large floors of elaborately set-up moving train displays, complete with smoke and lights and a video-cam display were you can feel you are on that big yellow Union Pacific barreling down the track! There are snacks available on the lower level, a scavenger hunt, and even an occasional derailment.

Admission for children eleven and under with an adult is free, with a $4.00 per person donation for adults.

Impress your grandchildren! Take them to the train show.

The GPS address is 751 N. Four Mile Run Rd., Youngstown, OH 44515. They also have a great website: www.ymra.org

Hugs,
Carol
