NOTE: A Note from Carol

Dear Gentle Readers,
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year and give you some unsolicited old lady advise:

     1. Breathe. A good deep breath can help you get through any situation a little better.
     2.  If you want 2019 to be different from all the others behind you, you have to DO something different. Take better care of yourself. Quit thinking you need to take care of the rest of the world first. You cannot pour from an empty cup. You need to replenish yourself first. That is not selfishness, my dears. It's survival. I sure wish someone had told me that one decades ago.
     3. Speaking of replenishing, make yourself a list of little indulgences you enjoy. Not big, expensive things. Tiny things that make you smile. A cup of flavored hot tea or coffee. Sitting in the sunshine. Reading a good book curled up in your favorite spot. A song that brings back a happy memory.
    4. Take a multiple vitamin every day. What they are doing to our food supply is a disgrace! Arm yourself. Eat less sugar and white flour. Have fruit and vegetables each day. A vitamin capsule. Plenty of clean water. Time in nature, every day if possible.
     5.  Exercise. If you want your brain to work better, you must move your body. Walk. Bring your playlist along and get in to it.
     6.  Get a handle on your feelings. Don't bury them or eat them. Try not to shout them out, either. But talk about what is bothering you. It will help you feel better.
     7. And this is the hard one: Forgive that sleazy, no good, rotten deplorable person who hurt you. I hear you saying "no way", but harboring hate and ill will doesn't hurt him or her or them. It hurts you. I know it's not easy, but you must do it. I came from a long line of Italian grudge-keepers, and if I can do it, so can you!
I hope year 2019 is your very best year yet.
     Hugs,
     Carol
