Shari Lyn Anderson
Oregon City, OR
USA

Good morning, Shari, and welcome to Vision and Verse, the

site for Art and Authors. Can you tell us a little about what you've written?

My first and only book at this time is “Aunt Sadie’s Letters of Hope & Healing”.

Your cover is gorgeous!
What is your favorite genre to write?
Non-Fiction. Poetry and inspirational

Favorite food.

Fried Chicken

Tea or coffee?

Coffee

Pizza or ice cream?

Both – Vegetarian or Hawaiian Pizza and my favorite flavor ice cream – Mint Chocolate Chip

Wine or beer or soda or what?

Water with Lemon

Where would you like to visit?

I’ve had the opportunity to travel outside of the country, but there are so many places in the USA that I have not seen, so I would love to travel within my county a bit more – starting with Alaska.

Favorite musical artist.

All time band The Beatles

Do you listen to music when you write?

No, I find it too distracting.

What makes you laugh?

Life in general can be pretty funny and bizarre.

Favorite work of art or sculpture.

The classics – the Old Masters

How old were you when you started writing?

I’ve always enjoyed writing – poems and short stories – since childhood.

Do you plan out your book with outlines and notecards? Or just write?

I plan it out, formulate it all in my head over and over – and then just write it down.

Describe your perfect evening.

Relaxing with good friends

Where do you get your inspiration?

This book was inspired by finding my great-aunt’s letters to my mother.

What do you do when you get a writer's block?

Walk away, take a breather.

Who is your favorite author?

Edgar Allen Poe

Best book you ever read.

Dances with Wolves

Last book you read.

The Write Balance by Bonni Goldberg

What would you do for a living if you weren’t a writer?

Before writing this book, I was a Medical Billing Specialist.

Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?

This is difficult to say just one person – however, I will say for now my father – who taught me patience. He was an artist and taught me how to paint, how to go after my passion and to believe in myself.

If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?

I would love one more conversation with my dad and to share my accomplishments with him.

What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?

Just do it!  Start by writing down your thoughts and feelings and it will eventually all come together.

Do you have some links for us to follow you?

I have a Facebook Page,  “Aunt Sadie’s letters”.
