TV TIME: Three Thousand Years of Longing (Prime Video)

This was not something I thought I’d like. It happened to be on when I walked in the room. Within a few minutes, I was glued to my chair.
The amazing Tilda Swinton can morph into any role; the Ice Queen in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,  a Nazi in Indiana Jones,  a Pork inspector in the Korean movie Ojka to name just a few, and now this one, a British scholar given to early life hallucinations. She picks out a cute little glass bottle as a souvenir of her trip to Turkey to go with her impressive glass collection back home. Upon cleaning said bottle, she unleashes a genie. A deep-voiced, big eyed hunk of a genie played beautifully by Idris Alba. And that’s where the fun starts. Beautifully shot, tenderly scored, this was a real treat.
