Welcome to Vision and Verse, Srijani. Tell us a little about what 


you’ve written?


I have written a poetry book called, Mantras of the Moon to be 


published by University of Alabama, this April. 



 

What is your favorite genre to write?


My favourite genre to write in is poetry. 



 

Favorite food.


I love having North Indian food. And Bengali cuisine too. Biryani 


is an all time favourite

Wine or beer or soda or what?


Juice

 


Where would you like to visit?


Would love to visit the States.

Yes. I love listening to pop songs. 




What makes you laugh?


My partner 





Favorite work of art or sculpture.


It’s the sculpture of the Khajuraho Temples. 





How old were you when you started writing?


I was 12. 



Do you plan out your book with outlines and notecards? 


Or just write?

Describe your perfect evening.


A stroll by the lake with my partner. 



 

Where do you get your inspiration?


From songs, other poets, my partner, conversations around me. 




What do you do when you get a writer's block?


I try to recollect memories, rejuvenate in nature, and revitalize 


myself. 





Who is your favorite author?


Rabindranath Tagore, always. 




I love his work, too. Best book you ever read.


I loved reading Geetanjali by Tagore.

What would you do for a living if you weren’t a writer?


I am a student. 




Who is the one person who has 


influenced your personal life the 


most and why?


My partner, because he 


motivates me all the time. 




If you could sit down and have a 


conversation with ONE person, 


living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?


Feluda, because I love how he solves mysteries in detective 


tales of Satyajit Ray.






What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a 


writer?


Be consistent and write.
