A Glimpse at Romanian Artist Georgeta Grabovschi
Geogeta (Geta) Sandica Grabovschi was born in the Oltenian capital of Romania, Craiova in 1954. She began painting at the age of five. She later attended the Nicolae Balcescu Art School, where her teachers noticed her excellent drawing skills. Geta attended Bucharest University where she also studied History and Philosophy. She later studied painting at the Francoise Conte Academy of Art in Paris.
Geta had her first formal art exhibit in 1986 and her second in 1988, while she was studying painting with Professor George Paul Mihail.
Geta began her professional painting career in 1989, when the Romanians ended the forty-two year Russian rule. Through the 1990's she showed her work in France and Germany. In 1998 she became a member of the International Salon of Independent Artists in Paris.
In 2003 she was awarded the Silver Medal of Merit in France and became a member of the International Federation of Women Artists.
Her work is highly sought after in her homeland of Romania, as well as in Europe.
Geta's style is modern, bold, and elegant. She is represented in the United States by Jones and Terwilliger Galleries.
