They make me laugh all the time with how goofy and silly they are.
This is an Art and Author blog, so I am obligated to ask: Favorite work of art or sculpture.
My aunt is an artist, and I love this piece she made. It is a hand sculpted mermaid and then she mosaiced the piece. It is absolutely stunning.
How old were you when you started writing?
I have been writing since I was in elementary school. My first book I created (with the help of my mom) was in elementary school. It won first place in the school’s writing contest.
Do you plan out your book with outlines and notecards? Or just write?
I do a little but of both. It usually starts out with one thing that inspires me. Sometimes it can just be the title of the book and I will build off that. Other times I will design the book cover first and then write my story based off the cover. I would consider myself a punster and I just let the story flow naturally.
Describe your perfect evening.
My perfect evening would be coming home to a clean house, hot meal, eat with my kids and family, play a little game with them, watch a movie and have them in bed early so that I can sit down and write before falling asleep.
Where do you get your inspiration?
My inspiration mostly comes to me in the middle of the night whilst I am dreaming. The ideas are the clearest then.
What do you do when you get a writer's block?
I take a step away from writing and just read more books. Sometimes it can take a week or so to get it my groove back, but it always comes
Favorite Author.
Cassandra Clare
Best book you ever read.
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Last book you read.
The Sacrifice by Shantel Tessier.
What would you do for a living if you weren’t a writer?
I currently work fulltime at a school. Somehow I find the time to write in my busy life.
Who is the one person who has influenced your personal life the most and why?
My wonderful boyfriend and family have made such an impact on me. They have supported my writing journey from the beginning.
If you could sit down and have a conversation with ONE person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
I would love to sit down with one of my favorite self-published authors, Leia Stone. I would love to hear her story of how she started her writing journey and the steps she has taken to get where she is today.
What advice would you give someone who aspired to be a writer?
I would say do your research, learn as much as you can, and don’t let your doubt stop you from achieving your dreams.
