Once again, Ms. Sharon Kleve has penned a story full of quirky characters, with unique family members, crazy jobs, a loving boyfriend, and a girl who has an uncanny knack for matchmaking and accidents.
P.J. Stone isn’t afraid of work, but work and she sometimes have dire circumstances. While she isn’t totally klutzy, she does seem to attract trouble and accidents. The one thing that she is known for is her ability to be a matchmaker.
What happens when her brother, Max, makes a promise to his loan shark in the LA area of California that P.J. will help him find his soulmate? Oh, and on a very short timetable? For P.J. it is a matter of unusual circumstances that help her make things happen.
The story is humorous, has a cute little dog, a sexy boyfriend, Bruno, wild family members, and all definitely fitting for Vegas. With outlandish people and circumstances, this is a fun and easy page-turning tale. There are no sex scenes; they are only implied.
This story was cute and funny, kind of in the vein of the Stephanie Plum series but without some of the mystery elements. However, it was very short - more of a novella than a full-length novel, really. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but IMO it would have been nice to learn more about PJ's relationships with Bruno, her aunt, and some of the other side characters. It sounds like PJ and Bruno met in a really interesting way, and maybe there's a (prequel?) story there. I don't think this is currently part of a series, but I may have missed something. Whether it is part of a series or not, it certainly stands well enough on its own for readers not to feel lost, but I would definitely read more stories about PJ and her family and friends if the author decides to write them.
